- In 1740s, Already established and known for high quality, Tango-Chirimen Silk (from Kyoto) makers were afraid of competition with Hama Chirimen Silk (from Nagahama - the other side of Lake Biwa from Kyoto - near my hometown) , they blocked Hama Chirimen Silk to have a business in the capital of Kyoto. Hama Chirimen makers let the government involved to be able to get their silk back in.
